Industry Brass
Four crazy days at Fox Studios, and the first big session we had since I joined the team and it was great opportunity to apply a lot of things I had learned over the years. We had to edit, print, and tape parts on the fly for some voicings that did not work. Watch a big orchestral sampling session for the first time, and be part of the planning. What a wild experience!
Sam Estes was in charge of planning the session, Shane and the rest of the team helped prep timing sheets and instrument parts. In the session, Shane and I were mostly behind the console and monitors, listening for errors and redos, Michael Hobe behind the ProTools rig. The mixes were live printed by Damon Tedesco, legendary for his work at 20th Century Studios. We all had our pass at conducting, I conducted the Trombone sections for both the Core and Pro entries of the collection. We listened the musicians play the Fox Fanfarre in the room where it was originally recorded.
The team split cutting samples and Shane and I built the Kontakt versions, while I built the Musio versions. This was the first set of instruments I built from scratch in Musio without porting from Kontakt. I realized how fantastic the system Harrison and Toby had set up to build instruments and I haven’t looked back since.
