Quatre

Quatre is quite a cool idea and sample set actually. It was sampled by Sam Estes at Hollywood Scoring. I did the denoising, at the time Hollywood Scoring was not fully insulated I was told, and I can confirm there were a lot of airplane and traffic sounds removed. The dynamics all have slightly different attacks (os oposed to only a change in dynamics with consistent attacks), making it feel a bit more expressive to me. Eventually, the Kontakt project got dropped, and eneded up being released only in Musio.

Each instrument has a restricted range, but the instrument's purpose is to be put through a sequencer or arpegiator to create fast repetitive ostinatos with a lightweight insturment optimized for this kind of modern playback for orchestral instruments.

I love to stack the harmonics over regular arco sustains and pass it through some effects, and this kind of more close-miced string section allows for a really nice version of that.
