The beginning
This project started taking shape soon after Camilo, my first son, was born. I had been collecting instruments for over 15 years, always with the following strategy: “Buy slow, but buy good”.
I would obsess over specifically which shaker sound I needed to cover a certain frequency range or for specific orchestration cases, and then go hunt for that sound in different stores, testing shakers side by side. This process would also take sometimes a few days, but sometimes years. Some of my guitars I wanted almost since I begun playing around 2006, either for the tonewoods or performance features. And some of those guitars I only got on around 2020 when I was living in Los Angeles. The same is true for all of the instruments in my collection. Things got out of hand when I started working on sampling and being presented with so many different kinds of instruments from around the world. By this point, I need to do something with it!
With the work me and the Musio team had been doing over the past 5 years, the platform was finally in a place where I could publish my own instruments there, and not only an in-house content developer. This was very exciting because sometimes my own ideas and projects wouldn’t become a company priority. That allowed me to record all my instruments separately and offer them in Musio, and then other distributing platforms as well.
We shall see how far can we run with this project!
